Islay Festival 2017: Caol Ila open day

It poured with rain on the third day of Fèis Ìle 2017, Islay’s annual festival of music and malt, but it couldn’t dampen the spirits of hundreds of visitors to Caol Ila distillery.

As many queued up outside the distillery shop in the rain to get hold of a limited edition festival bottling, others headed for shelter inside the old filling store, where masterclasses were held and drams were poured.

It was here that Scotchwhisky.com editor Becky Paskin caught up with the Boat City Whisky Club from Łódź, Poland, and discovered more about the Caol Ila festival bottling from inimitable whisky ambassador Colin Dunn.
