Dream Drams Profile

Dream Drams is the trading name of the MWBH (Malt Whisky Buyers Helpline) Bottling Co. Ltd, which is based in Kendal, Cumbria and owned by Paul Smith, Rebecca Holliday and Barry Jones. Its bottlings are sold primarily through its website and while the company is still active, it maintains a relatively low-key profile.

Dream Drams History

The MWBH Bottling Co. was founded by solicitor Paul Smith, his daughter Rebecca Holliday and Barry Jones in 1999. The company was initially intended as a helpline for people caught up in the Grandtully cask investment scam of the mid-1990s, which tricked around 2,000 people to invest a total of £4 million in a lost distillery’s imaginary whisky.

Smith initially established the company to help people get their money back, but through connections made while dealing with bonded stock holders, Dream Drams was developed as a hobby bottling business.

In 2008 the company launched its online shop and – despite not bottling a huge quantity of whiskies over the years – continues to trade and offer a range of single cask bottlings.
